Serving God in the Oxford, AL community since 2023

The founding of His Word Global Methodist Church is nothing short of a God-directed miracle. The fifteen founding members made the decision to leave their UMC at the end of 2022. In early January of 2023, we began meeting together, praying for God’s direction for our new journey. This led us to be involved in the initial stages of planting the first Global Methodist Church in Calhoun County! After months of worshipping in homes and continuing to seek God’s direction, we launched our first service on March 5, 2023 in a rented storefront in Oxford, AL.

Throughout the following months, we had family fellowships, picnics at Oxford Lake, sunrise services, and many other activities to strengthen the unity of our church family. We also began Sunday School and choir, as well as mission opportunities for both men’s and women’s groups.

Our church family continued to increase, which prompted us to prayerfully seek God’s direction for a new location. Throughout the next few months, various locations and buildings were considered; however, none of them were God’s plan for our church.

In early 2025, we were led to an awesome location in Oxford as a possible new church building. After many hours of prayer, what seemed to be insurmountable obstacles were overcome, and we began the process of purchasing 213 Choccolocco Street. Our first worship service there was held on July 6, 2025, with the largest attendance of a service to date. We continue to give God ALL the honor, ALL the glory, and ALL the praise for our new church home!
